Hi there, its Gordon here from Aculife Clinic, I’d like to take a few moments of your time to talk with you on how we can help you enhance your fertility health and prepare you for your upcoming IVF Cycle.
So, how long before your IVF cycle should you be getting acupuncture? Well there are a few different answers to that question, if you have the time, then having acupuncture for a few sessions 3 months prior to your transfer is perfect. This will give you plenty of time to get ready for your IVF cycle. I think if you can get around 2 sessions a month then you will be doing really well. And this will give your acupuncturist plenty on time to work on your reproductive system. Why we look for 3 months is that follicular development happens over 90 to 100 days and this gives us a chance to optimise your reproductive system prior to the IVF.
Now don’t be too concerned if you are having your transfer next week, there is still so much that we can do to help you, try and get at least one session in before the transfer date, just so as to get to know your acupuncturist, where the clinic is and if you feel comfortable with the therapist. Being comfortable with your therapist is so important.
Unfortunately not all therapists work 7 day weeks so you will have to find someone who can work with you on the day of transfer, usually the morning of the transfer and then back in for a post acupuncture session in the afternoon. It also works great the day before and the day after transfer, so make sure to do what suits you best. If all you want is one session, and you really want to go home and tuck yourself up in bed….. Do that… This is about you…
After transfer try and get 2 more sessions in, one 5-7 days post transfer and then the 2nd 5 days from that session. These can be 2 tough weeks so make sure you are good to you.
If you are finding that you are having problems eating, sleeping or your emotions are not settled, tell your acupuncturist. There is so much that they can do to help you at this stage.
